Snowmobile strikes woman in Logan Canyon

CACHE COUNTY (ABC4) — Search and Rescue have located and stabilized the woman struck by a snowmobile near Peter Sinks in Logan Canyon.

A woman was tubing in the canyon as part of a “train” of tubes tied together when she was hit by a snowmobile about 100 yards west of the Sinks’ parking lot today, Feb. 4, around 3:15 p.m. An off-duty medic treated her on the scene and Search and Rescue dispatched a helicopter to extract her safely, officials said.

The woman received facial injuries and back injuries from the incident. She was stabilized before the helicopter arrived and was lifted out of the canyon to the University of Utah to obtain treatment, according to Cache County Lieutenant Peck.

“The Cache County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to be careful and attentive while recreating during this winter season. We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the many opportunities our mountains provide. But, it is important to be aware of the environment and other recreating individuals while doing so,” a released statement read.

The identity of the woman along has not been released.
