New boys hockey state poll: Two Section III teams rise in latest rankings

Two Section III teams moved up in this week’s New York State Sportswriters Association boys hockey poll.

Baldwinsville rose one slot to No. 9 in Division I. The Bees, who are currently on 14-game win streak, knocked off rival West Genesee earlier this week for control of the Division I standings.

Cortland-Homer climbed to No. 6 in Division II after three-straight weeks at No. 7. The Golden Eagles have won seven-straight games and eight of their last nine.

Here’s where all the Section III teams rank this week (records as of Feb. 4):

Division I

9. Baldwinsville, 15-1 (LW: No. 10)

10. West Genesee, 15-3 (Last week: No. 8)

Division II

4. Skaneateles, 14-3 (LW: No. 4)

6. Cortland-Homer, 15-2 (LW: No. 7)

16 (tie). CBA/J-D, 11-6 (LW: No. 11)
