CREDIT: WINK News All that excitement and a performance by the acapella group, Straight No Chaser, made the event a day to remember. However, the Naples Winter Wine Festival auction wasn’t always this way. The white tent is where it all started! In fact, the Naples Winter Wine Festival, pre-dates the Ritz Carlton. So in 2001, the event was just a handful of couples, this white tent, and a dream to help underprivileged children in Collier County. And while there are now a lot more bells and whistles during the event, the primary goal has not deviated. “As an adult, we are really the protectors of the children. How the funding is done from the state, really doesn’t happen. So having private people do things to raise money for a cause, the effects on the children are wonderful,” Naples resident, John Brown said. “The children are going to have opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise. We do a lot with a lot of charities so it covers a plethora of things. Hearing, sight, education. It’s all very important,” Naples resident, Sherie Marek said. “As we always say, it’s all for the kids,” volunteer Rochelle Jackson said.
