Report: Hawks join pursuit of Sixers defender Matisse Thybulle

Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday at 3 p.m. EST and teams are deciding which direction to go in order to improve their chances.

The Philadelphia 76ers have championship aspirations in the 2022-23 season, so one assumes they are buyers at the deadline.

However, they also have to shed some salary. One name that continues to surface in trade talks is Matisse Thybulle. Along with the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors, there is another team in pursuit of Thybulle.

Per Marc Stein via his substack, the Atlanta Hawks have now joined in on the pursuit:

Sources say that Atlanta has joined Sacramento as a confirmed suitor for Philadelphia’s Matisse Thybulle. I don’t know that the Hawks will be the ultimate landing spot, but I’ve been advised that the prospect of Thybulle getting traded before Thursday’s buzzer is very real.

The Sixers should think hard before trading Thybulle. Sure, the offensive production has been up and down, but he makes a big impact while out on the floor. He makes big plays on defense end. He provides substantial energy and great defensive play. If he stays past the deadline, he should be a part of their rotation.
