Sixers doing things not seen since 2001 East championship team

Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers are on a terrific run as of late as they have won 22 of their last 27 games in order to improve to 34-17 on the season. They are the No. 3 seed in the East currently and are right there nipping at the heels of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics.

With their 137-125 win over the San Antonio Spurs to begin their three-game road trip, the Sixers have now won eight road games in a row. The most impressive of those eight games was a terrific 5-0 West Coast road trip in January.

The eight road wins in a row are the longest road winning streak for the Sixers since the 2000-01 team that reached the finals led by Allen Iverson. That team won 13 road games in a row on their way to winning the Eastern Conference championship.

Philadelphia has two games left on this road trip as they will pay a visit to the New York Knicks on Sunday and then visit the Celtics on Tuesday. That will give them an opportunity to continue to grow their road winning streak.
