A new public charter school is paving the way for local students to explore their mental health and social identity.
Cactus Park Elementary kicked off its grand opening in North Las Vegas on Saturday.
Assemblywoman and Cactus Park Elementary Board Member Cecelia Gonzalez joined teachers and families in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome the school.

Parents had the opportunity to tour the campus and learn more about resource fairs and family fitness days.
The curriculum offers a variety of unique classes including social-emotional learning, identity studies, health and wellness enrichment, and civic engagement.
Students will also have access to an on-campus farm, food pantry, and cactus garden.
