Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and writer Charmaine DeGraté are tackling Atlantis together for the big screen.

This one, a fantasy blockbuster placing the fabled lost city under the microscope, has been on Trevorrow's to-do list for a while, with The Hollywood Reporter now confirming that the project has switched hands from Universal to Skydance.

DeGraté (House of the Dragon and upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte) replaces Dante Harper, who previously turned in a draft of the script.

As far as the future of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel goes, don't hold your breath for the 'Dance of the Dragons' to unfold onscreen anytime soon.

Network chief Casey Bloys stated back in October: "Don't expect it in '23, but I think sometime in '24.

"We're just starting to put the plan together, and just like last time, there are so many unknowns. It's not to be coy or secretive, but you don't want to say it's going to be ready on this date, and then you have to move it."

Meanwhile, Ser Harrold Westerling actor Graham McTavish has also teased that the upcoming episodes will unleash more fire-spewing dragons.

"I think it will move out of just the locations that we've been in up until now. I think season 1 was a much more domestic experience whereas this one will be much more fractured, and possibly move a little more into the world that people are familiar with, with Game of Thrones, where there were multiple storylines existing at one time," he told Metro.

"I would imagine that's what it would be," added the Scotsman. "And more dragons! A few will have been born by the time the show comes out again. And they grow very quickly..."

House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK. Season 2 has been confirmed. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
