Sarah Michelle Gellar Explained Why A Velma-Daphne Kiss Was Cut From "Scooby-Doo," And It Sounds Like It's Lost To Time

"I think it was the reason I actually signed on to the movie. It was less family-friendly to begin with."

If you're of a certain age, you've probably seen the Scooby-Doo live-action movies from the 2000s at least once or twice.

And you also know that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Linda Cardellini played Daphne and Velma, respectively.

Sarah says that she actually signed on to make Scooby-Doo because she was under the impression that the film would be less explicitly geared toward children in its subject matter.

A caller then asked if the movie's version of Daphne had a "relationship on the side" with Velma — and that's when Sarah revealed all.

"It was an actual kiss between Daphne and Velma that got cut," Sarah said, after disclaiming, "I don’t know about a relationship on the side, but there was a steamy...I mean, I said it was steamy, but they probably didn't think it was, hence it was cut."

"I feel like the world wants to see it," she added. "But I don't know where it is."

Sarah also said that material was cut from the film that implied Fred — played by her real-life husband, Freddie Prinze, Jr. — was "interested in both, you know, parties."

"There was a great line, too, where I remember, I'll never forget, where we were having a fight — Daphne and Fred — and then I yell at him, 'And that ascot makes you look gay!' and I slam the door," Sarah said.
