New Team Makes Big Move in Rodgers’ Next-Team Odds

GREEN BAY, Wis. – If the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers decide a trade is in their best interests, two obvious trade destinations have emerged.
One is the New York Jets, with a talented roster and a new offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, that would come with a huge seal of approval from Rodgers.
Two is the Las Vegas Raiders, with former Packers star Davante Adams perhaps making a push for his former teammate to be the replacement for Derek Carr.
PointsBet Sportsbook has those teams as the favorites to be Rodgers’ next team if there’s a trade. The Jets are +150, meaning an implied probability of 40.0 percent. The Raiders are +450, an implied probability of 18.2 percent.
An interesting team made a big move overnight. On Friday, the Tennessee Titans were +1200 – the sixth-shortest odds and a probability of 7.7 percent. By Saturday morning, the Titans had moved to +800, the fifth-shortest odds and a probability of 11.1 percent.
What’s fascinating is there was no big news that powered the shift. The Jets have by far the shortest odds stemming from their hiring of Hackett. The Raiders with Adams have always been a logical pick.
Nothing happened in Tennessee that made the return of incumbent starter Ryan Tannehill any less likely.
The Titans do make sense from a couple perspectives. Their 7-10 record in 2022 notwithstanding, they have a quality roster anchored by stud running back Derrick Henry and a physical defense.
They have a new general manager, Ran Carthon, who might want to start over at quarterback. Tannehill led the NFL with a 117.5 passer rating in 2019 but slumped to 89.6 to 94.6 the last two seasons. If Tannehill isn’t good enough to get the job done and Carthon isn’t high on Malik Willis’ potential, would the Titans want to take a big swing?
Rodgers reportedly owns property near Nashville and was building a home there a couple years ago.
Plus, Rodgers has spoken highly of Titans coach Mike Vrabel.
“It’s a toughness that Mike brings, and the expectations I’m sure for them are really high,” Rodgers said before last year’s matchup.
“I keep in touch with Mike throughout the year and they lost their first two games, and I think just like happens in this league there’s probably overreactions and what the hell’s going on and what are we going to do, and I think they rattled off like five or six wins in a row and kind of quieted everybody up. But they obviously have a really good football team and Mike’s a great coach.”
