Ohio State went live at its spring practice session for Student Appreciation Day, and we witnessed it all. The Buckeyes did seven-on-seven work, offense vs. defense drills with thud tackling and eventually opened things up to full contact (besides the quarterbacks) as Kyle McCord and Devin Brown operated out of the shotgun and under center as lead signal-callers for Ohio State's offense.

Ohio State’s defense – specifically, the defensive line – was the clear winner of the Buckeyes’ second scrimmage of the spring. While the score of Ohio State’s first scrimmage one week earlier came down to the offense scoring a game-winning touchdown on the final drive, the defense won by a double-digit margin on Saturday, when the Buckeyes welcomed Ohio State students to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for Student Appreciation Day. The front four had a lot to do with that, as Ohio State’s defensive linemen repeatedly put pressure on the Buckeye quarterbacks and came up with sacks and tackles for loss.

Ja’Had Carter went down with a right leg injury during Ohio State’s Student Appreciation Day scrimmage at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Saturday. The Syracuse transfer safety needed the help of two trainers to limp off the field after a 7-on-7 play and initially didn’t appear able to bear weight on his injured leg. Carter eventually came back onto the field under his own strength, but didn’t return to action and continued to favor his right leg.
