While Las Vegas has become a hub for sporting events, boxing will always feel special when Madison Square Garden hosts a fight. Amanda Serrano has had plenty of moments inside “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” and she is looking to add another on February 4.

Inside the Hulu Theater, Serrano faces Erika Cruz to determine the undisputed featherweight champion. Serrano, the WBC, WBO, IBO, IBF, and The Ring featherweight champion, faces the WBA champion in Cruz.

A Brooklyn native from Puerto Rico, Serrano first fought inside MSG in 2019. She beat Eva Voraberger for junior-bantamweight gold and Heather Hardy for featherweight gold. In 2022, Serrano competed in the Fight of the Year against Katie Taylor, losing to the latter for undisputed lightweight gold. Now, she has a chance to represent her home while also fighting for the status of undisputed again.

“This is a pivotal moment, not just for me and my own career but for my home island of Puerto Rico,” said Serrano via Boxing Junkie. “Earning the opportunity to be an undisputed lineal champion is something most fighters only dream about, but becoming the first boxer from Puerto Rico to be an undisputed champion would make it even more special.

“I look forward to entering the ring… in my hometown of NYC back at Madison Square Garden.”

The Puerto Rican continues boxing’s epic PR vs. Mexico rivalry against Cruz. A 2011 Pan American Games silver medalist, Cruz won the WBA title in 2021 and has defended it twice.
