Former Pella Track and Field State Champion Hurdler Nolan Clayberg has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Fighting Bee Invite on January 27-28 for the Hawkeye Community College RedTails Track and Field program.

Clayberg debuted his 60m Hurdles this past weekend, winning the event. He placed fourth overall in the preliminary round, and battled back hard during the final to take the gold, stopping the clock at 8.63. This puts him number five all time for Hawkeye.

“Nolan joined us this semester and hasn’t missed a step,” said coach Hunter Lavallee. “He strives hard for excellence all while bouncing ideas and energy off of his event group. Clayberg has one bright season ahead of him.”

Clayberg was an Elite All-State athlete and part of the 2022 State Track and Field Championship Shuttle Hurdle Relay for Pella and a key member of the 2021 Class 3A team state title winners.
