NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team made it three wins in-a-row with a convincing 5-2 victory over in-state opponent Lipscomb on Friday evening in Nashville.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 3-1 on the young season. Lipscomb moves to 1-2 following the defeat.
 
The No. 1 duo of Simon Labbe and Peyton Gatti earned a dominating 6-1 win to kick off doubles play before the No. 3 slotted tandem of Ryan Mudre and Gabriel Castillo picked up a 6-4 point-clinching win.
 
"The doubles point again was super important for us to gain momentum ahead of singles," said head coach Chuck Merzbacher following the match.
 
"Ryan [Mudre] and Gabe [Castillo] really handled the deciding doubles match for the team point."
 
Up 1-0 headed to singles, Labbe gave the team an early lift with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 to push the team lead to 2-0. Castillo, Mudre and freshman Kristof Kincses all earned straight-set victories to give UTC it's match-deciding fourth point in addition to the team's fifth.
 
"In singles, Simon [Labbe] played a tremendous match to get us up 2-0, and after that, the remaining matches were all hard fought with Gabe getting us to three points while Ryan played very solid to claim the deciding point," added Merzbacher.
 
"Even the matches we didn't get, the guys battled in three sets. It was another full team win here in Nashville."
