CHICAGO (CBS) -- Four people were hurt – one of them seriously – when a car hit a Chicago Transit Authority bus that in turn slammed into a currency exchange in the Roseland neighborhood Friday night.

As CBS 2 Investigator Megan Hickey reported, the bus remained lodged inside the currency exchange at 11055 S. Michigan Ave. as of 10 p.m. We are told there may be some concerns about the structural integrity of the building, which was why the bus had not yet been removed.

CTA supervisors were still on the scene surveying the damage at 10 p.m.

Police said the No. 119 Michigan-119th bus was headed north on Michigan Avenue when a Nissan Maxima ran a red light at 111th Street.

The Nissan hit the bus, and bus driver lost control and hit the currency exchange, police said.

Dispatch reports indicated the Maxima caught fire after the crash. Calls for help started coming in shortly after 6 p.m.

According to police radio recordings, the 20-year-old Nissan driver told officers he was being chased by a black Jeep Grand Cherokee that continued north after he crashed.

Police said the driver of the Nissan was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.

Meanwhile, police on the scene could be heard repeatedly calling for ambulances several minutes after the crash.

Police said a 48-year-old passenger on the bus was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, and a 54-year-old man who had been on the bus was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital. Both were in good condition.

A 28-year-old woman on the bus was taken to OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park with minor injuries.

We did reach out to the city's Department of Buildings for an update on the structural integrity of the building. Late Friday, we were still waiting to hear back.

The CTA referred us to the Police and Fire departments for comment.

There was no word late Friday about any charges or traffic citations in this incident.
