Sorokin-Ovi

Ilya Sorokin is used to facing off against Alex Ovechkin, but on Friday night, he got acquainted with the next generation of Ovechkin.
Sergei Ovechkin, aka Ovi Jr., led the Metropolitan Division All-Stars out for warmups ahead of the Skills Competition, took some shots on the Islanders netminder, who was more than happy to play along. As for Ovechkin, the NHL's second all-time leading goal scorer (812 goals) was more than happy just to capture it all on his phone.
"He wanted to score me all day today and when he scored five goals, we became best friends," Sorokin said with a laugh.

Sorokin knows Alex Ovechkin a little bit from Russian national team events, but formed a fast connection with Ovi Jr. What did Sorokin and Sergei talk about?
"He's just asking questions, asking to go play hockey," Sorokin said. "He loves hockey and wants play every day and every night."
Ovi Sr. even told reporters that Sorokin was the top babysitter on the all-star roster.

As for Sorokin, he enjoyed his first NHL All-Star Skills competition, even if he was trying to play it cool.

Sorokin and Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin were paired up together for the Tendy Tandem, but lost out to Tampa's Andrei Vasilevskiy and Boston's Linus Ullmark in the goalie shooting/saving team event.
