A staple of the neighborhood for the past 13 years, the loss of Fat Guys will certainly be felt.
"Our neighbor, our next-door neighbor, we hate to lose them. They made good burgers," said barber Willie Sells.
But Greenwood is already looking forward, specifically to next week.
"We have the U.S. Secretary of Labor coming to tour the Greenwood District," said Freeman Culver.
Culver is the President of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to the impact the visit will have on the neighborhood.
"This historic visit that we’re going to have, I really think it's going to be a catalyst to see us grow with Tulsa, not just be a neighborhood, but grow with Tulsa," he said.
"So yeah get labor down here, we need more jobs, economic development," said Sells.
Meanwhile, across the street at Black Wall Street T-shirts and Souvenirs...
"I’m a direct descendant," said Cleo Harris, Jr., hoping to be able to share his story with the secretary.
"The government official coming down here needs to hear my story and many other descendants' stories so we can rebuild what we have left," he said.
Stories about Greenwood's history and whatever else the community wants to share.
"I think the police department ought to start looking for policemen while they’re in high school, pick out better people. We don’t want bullies for police officers. You didn’t ask me that but you needed to know it's the way I feel," said Sells.
