Baltimore’s top prosecutor, Ivan Bates, has been in office for 30 days and in an exclusive interview with FOX45 News, described getting an office that was “a mess” from his predecessor.
Bates won the Democratic primary election in July 2022, all but guaranteeing his success in November. After winning the general election, Bates replaced the incumbent, Marilyn Mosby, who is facing four federal perjury and false statement charges.
In an exclusive interview with FOX45 News, Bates said he is still working on hiring and filling the vacancies left behind from Mosby’s tenure; boosting morale has also been something Bates said he’s working on with the attorneys and staff in the office to ensure they know he supports them.

Bates described the first 30 days in office as “an eye-opening experience” and said he found out Mosby never submitted a budget proposal to City Hall before leaving.
