On Thursday, a driver took Lebanon Police on a bit of a chase.
The Lebanon Police Department (LPD) says that on Thursday they received a report of a vehicle driving recklessly in the Carl's Jr. parking lot at 525 Weldwood Drive, Lebanon. The caller reported to officials that the car was 'driving in circles' and drove over a curb.
LPD officers located the car, a blue Mazda Protege, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, officials say the vehicle failed to stop for police and continued driving.
Authorities say that Mazda fled west-bound on Airport Road, then traveled north through residential areas before driving south on Stoltz Hill Road. Officers followed the vehicle to Cascade Drive where another officer deployed a spike strip, attempting to stop the vehicle.
LPD says the spike strip successfully deflated several of the Mazda's tires. Though the tires had been punctured, the driver continue driving and turned around into a commercial parking lot and then drove south on Cascade Drivers.
While LPD officers were attempting to position patrol cars to prevent the Mazda from continuing, the driver crashed into two Lebanon Police squad cars; causing significant damage. After the driver had crashed an LPD officer used their patrol car to push the vehicle to the side of the road near Central Avenue and Oregon Street, bringing the Mazda to a stop.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Dakotah Hodson, was taken into custody and was charged with:
- Attempt to Elude Police Officer
- Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants
- Two county of Reckless Driving
Hodson was lodged at the Linn County Jail, LPD says they have had multiple priors with Hodson.
