The Memphis Police Department in Tennessee has fired another officer in the aftermath of the police beating and death of Tyre Nichols last month.

Preston Hemphill, previously announced as one of the seven officers who were “relieved of duties” immediately following the incident, has now been “departmentally charged and terminated” for various policy violations, according to a tweet from the department.

The violations by Hemphill included personal conduct, truthfulness, complying with regulations for tasers and uniforms, and “inventory and processing recovered property.”

The police department said it decided to fire Hemphill after a “thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Five other officers who were “relieved of duties” were fired and later charged with second-degree murder for their actions in the incident with Nichols.

Police officers beat Nichols following a traffic stop on Jan. 7. He later died of his injuries.
