Strong winds cause tree limbs, power lines to fall

(WWLP) – Here are some reports of powerlines and fallen trees coming down in western Massachusetts.

Reports of fallen trees and power lines

The fallen trees and power lines are causing roads to close around western Massachusetts.

•Cheshire: Down tree and power lines leave Jenks Road closed from Wells Road. Access is available from Windsor Road.

•Sunderland: South Plain Road closed to a fallen tree

•Ludlow: Center Street closed from Miller Street to Moore Street due to down power lines

•Holland: Road closure in the vicinity of #136 Sturbridge Road. Holland Police Department says, “Please be advised that Sturbridge Rd in the vicinity of #136 is still impassable. This is slightly northeast of Alexander Rd and vehicles may detour via Alexander Rd – East Brimfield Rd. The fallen trees have been removed from East Brimfield Rd and Old County Rd and both roads are now passable. The trees and wires have been removed from Brimfield Rd in the area of 190 and the road is now passable. Union Rd is now passable but may need to close again at some point tonight for pole replacement. North Wales Rd in the vicinity of #57 is now passable as the fallen trees have been removed. There is another tree on wires in the same area that National Grid is already aware of but the wires are still intact to the pole.”

•Colrain: Greenfield road is back open after trees and power lines fell down.

•Sturbridge: The entrance to Camp Road is closed due to power lines in the roadway. The Sturbridge Police Department said, “Traffic will not be allowed to pass through Collette Road as a result. There is also a tree down with power lines that are live on Allen Rd. National Grid is on the scene with officers at this time. Traffic is being detoured up and around Sydney Road due to this.”
