ELIZABETHTOWN, N.C. (WECT) - The Town of Elizabethtown has postponed its Homecoming Celebration until further notice.

Homecoming Celebration

The Homecoming Celebration will highlight the past and future of the town at the Cape Fear Farmers Market. The postponement was announced on Sept. 21, and a new date is yet to be announced. The event was originally set for Sept. 23.

Old-fashioned contests, including corn shucking, hollering, whistling and a boiled peanut eating contest, were set to be held at the homecoming event.

Pork and Beats Festival update

The town announced on Sept. 7 that the Pork and Beats Festival has been postponed from this November for a re-imagining in 2024.

“The goal of the Pork and Beats Festival has always been to celebrate the rich agricultural heritage of our area and to help stimulate the economy through increased tourism and visitation. We have recruited the expertise of an award-winning festival company out of Pinehurst to partner with the town and reinvent the 2024 version of the Pork and Beats Festival, increasing its overall appeal to those in our community, across Bladen County, throughout the region, and in our neighboring states,” a town announcement states.

“Updates will be provided as additional details on this event start taking shape in early January.”
