CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay State University basketball hosted Military Appreciation Night on Thursday, with soldiers rappelling from the rafters of the Dunn Center and shooting hoops with the team.

Thursday’s game against Liberty University was sponsored by Altra Federal Credit Union, who gave away military-themed Austin Peay shirts. The game ball was delivered by the Sabalauski Air Assault School from Fort Campbell, and the Tennessee National Guard set up a weapons display on the third floor. Eli Castillo of the Austin Peay ROTC sang the national anthem prior to tipoff against the Flames.

In game action, the men’s basketball team outshot one of the nation’s top three-point shooting squads from behind the arc, but the Governors were unable to hold off Liberty and dropped an ASUN Conference contest, 82-70.
