Second suspect in 2022 Gonzales shooting in police custody

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect accused of a September shooting in Gonzales.

Sheriff Bobby Webre says detectives have arrested Ashtin Ursin, 21, of Prairieville, in relation to the killing of Jasper Dorsey Jr., 22, on Oak Meadow Street. On Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, detectives responded to a shooting and found Dorsey in his car with multiple gunshot wounds. Dorsey was transported to a hospital but later died of his injuries.

During the investigation, detectives identified Ursin as a suspect and got an arrest warrant. Ursin was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of second-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, criminal street gangs and patterns of criminal street gangs activity, accessory after the fact, and illegal possession of stolen things.

APSO also arrested another suspect in the shooting.
