Former Oklahoma RB Eric Gray Turning Heads at Senior Bowl

Gray was named the running back practice player of the week on Friday in Mobile, AL.

Once again, it appears as if a former Oklahoma player is making a strong impression at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Similarly to defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey last year, who was named the game MVP, former OU running back Eric Gray is grabbing teams’ attention this week at practices ahead of the annual college football showcase game.

On Friday, Gray was tabbed as the running back practice player of the week - separating himself from the rest of the pack in Mobile, AL.

Piggy-backing off of a tremendous 2022 season in Norman, Gray is hoping to impress scouts enough to earn himself the attention of an NFL franchise - and he seems to be doing just that.

In 12 games last season, the Tennessee transfer ran for 1,366 yards and 11 touchdowns while also adding another 229 yards receiving.

His play was good enough to earn him second-team All-Big 12 selections by both the league’s coaches and the Associated Press, as well as a first-team all-conference nod by Pro Football Focus.

Along with his maturity and leadership, Gray’s ability to catch passes out of the backfield is surely something that will enamor potential NFL suitors, and it appears that has already begun to happen this week.

Largely considered either just inside or just outside the top-10 running backs in the class, Gray’s stock is viewed as one on the rise and could continue to go that way in the coming months leading up to April’s draft.
