Giants star takes shot at Philadelphia Eagles head coach: ‘You guys can coach this team’

While Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been tossed flowers from all around the NFL world for the job he’s done with the team in just two seasons, a star player from a division rival thinks anybody could have succeeded in his position.

After three seasons as the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, Nick Sirianni was named the Eagles’ head coach ahead of the 2021 season. Despite some growing pains in year one — especially with second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts — the team still finished a game over .500. However, this season Philadelphia squad took a massive step forward in their overall development.

Throughout the 2022 season, the Philadelphia Eagles were one of the most dominant teams in the NFL on both sides of the ball. They have a ferocious defense that set records with their pass rush. The offense has one of the best rushing attacks in the league and Hurts grew into an NFL MVP finalist this season.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has received a great deal of credit for the team’s 14-3 record and for reaching Super Bowl LVII. Yet, it seems that New York Giants star safety Julian Love has been unimpressed by the performance of the Eagles’ head coach.

During an appearance on a Thursday edition of the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” Love was asked about the Philadelphia Eagles and their run to this year’s Super Bowl. Since he has an in-depth knowledge of the team as a fellow member of the NFC East, and being beaten by Philly three times this season, including in the NFC Divisional Round.

However, during the conversation, Love took the opportunity to take some shots at Nick Sirianni’s abilities as a head coach, and his penchant for often openly celebrating his team’s successes on the sidelines during games.

“He’s a guy who’s really doing a good job because he’s not getting in the way of his team. He has an experienced roster from top to bottom, offense, and defense … I don’t like it [the celebrations]. I don’t like it at all. I mean, he’s in for a free ride right now. You guys can coach this team.”

Following some backlash from the comments, the Giants star took to his Twitter to double down on the comments and said, “Philly fans sure don’t like this one lol, but I’m not wrong. This is a players league, and Philly has dogs on the roster, top to bottom. It’s no mystery why they’re in this position.”

  • Julian Love stats (2022-2023): 124 tackles, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defended

The Philadelphia Eagles face off with the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 on Feb. 12.
