MAGNA — Three 15-year-olds were arrested Thursday night in connection with a drive-by shooting police believe is gang-related.
Just before 6 p.m., Unified police responded to a report of shots fired near 3200 South and 7200 West. A house was struck by gunfire but no injuries were reported, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler. Details on where the shots ended up were not immediately available.
The incident was recorded on either a doorbell camera or home surveillance camera and police were given a picture of the suspects' vehicle, Cutler said.
Using that information, a vehicle matching the one police were looking for was spotted at about 11 p.m. Officers attempted to pull it over but the driver sped off, Cutler said. Following a short chase, the vehicle crashed into a ditch near 2150 S. 8000 West.
No one was injured in the crash. Two 15-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl were arrested for their alleged involvement in the earlier events. Cutler said investigators believe the incident is gang-related.
