The Ace 2 is already slated to launch as OnePlus' first ever Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1/5,000mAh battery/100W charging smartphone. Not content with that, however, the brand has just previewed the new SuperVOOC S chip to debut as part of its upcoming flagship-alternative Android device. It is backed to become the "strongest power management" solution on its impending launch.

'Dual-chip' Android smartphones with custom co-processors intended to augment various key device features have become more and more commonplace by now. Too much so for OnePlus, clearly, as it has chosen to add yet more silicon to the upcoming Ace 2.

Company executive Li Jie attributes the first-gen SuperVOOC S chip to OnePlus' increased commitment to research and development. Its integration into the Ace 2 is touted to prolong the life of its new 100W charging system by making it more end-to-end (or, at least, more first-party) compared to last-gen solutions.

The battery-management silicon is poised to join a "professional rendering chip" (a slightly ambiguous description possibly aimed at display, imaging or both) in backing a main former flagship processor up in the Ace 2 on its Chinese February 7, 2023 debut. To date, it is not clear whether the SuperVOOC S will also feature in the device's global edition, the 11R, on its same-day launch.
