HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – More details have been released after a Sturgis man’s death in a collision involving a semi.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) received a call from the Union County Sheriff’s Department (UCSD) around 7:40 a.m. of a two vehicle collision on US 60 near Sturgis.
Police say a preliminary investigation revealed Benjamin F. Allen III, 32, of Sturgis, was facing westbound on US 60, backing his tractor-trailer into a business parking lot. KSP says for an unknown reason, an eastbound pick-up truck failed to see the trailer crossing US 60 and drove underneath.
KSP says the Ford pick-up truck was driven by Adrian D. Vallery, 32 of Sturgis. Police says Vallery was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Union County Coroner.
KSP says the investigation is on-going.

The Union County Coroner has confirmed one person has died after an accident near Sturgis Airport on Thursday.
Police say a semi-truck was turning out of the parking lot of a business when a pickup truck ran into the middle of the semi’s trailer. According to authorities, the impact essentially cut off the top of the pickup.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified by the Union County Coroner as 32-year-old Adrian Vallery Jr., was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi had no injuries after being hit.
