How Pamela Anderson and Her Sons Got Ready for the Premiere of ‘Pamela, a Love Story’

Dressing for the red carpet is hard. But dressing for the red carpet premiere of a documentary about your news-making life sounds even harder. Pamela Anderson decided the best, and perhaps most fun, approach was to put a spin on her most recognizable look. The actor wore a red sequined dress that operated as a delightful nod to her enduring Baywatch swimsuit. “Flashback,” the star shouts when she walks out in the megawatt outfit, showing the look off to her possé and two sons. The room whoops and cheers.

The outfit is one meaningful part of a sentimental night for Anderson and her family, as documented in Vogue’s latest Getting Ready video. Cameras capture the starlet as she heads off to the glitzy premiere for her Netflix documentary Pamela, a Love Story. But this is not your average celeb doc. The gripping re-examination of Pamela’s life and legacy was produced by her oldest son, Brandon Lee, and comes right as Anderson released her memoir, Love, Pamela. Brandon and his younger brother, Dylan Jagger Lee, are on hand for the night, watching their mother get glammed up. It’s a familiar experience. “This is me as a parent,” Anderson says, “Me in a makeup chair somewhere, with my boys.”

Anderson is somber and reflective as she gets dolled up. Before the Vogue camera crew enters her hotel room, she sages the space. And later, as Anderson’s hairstylist curls her signature blonde locks, the star ruminates on the importance of authenticity. “The hardest job in the world is to be yourself,” Anderson says. “The truth isn’t that bad. The truth is good. So no matter what comes of this, it’s the truth. And let people respond how they respond.”

She doesn’t see the film as a rehashing of old grudges, but rather as a meaningful retrospective. “I think it’s your love letter to your parents really,” Anderson says, speaking to Brandon about the film. “When I see it, I can see how much love and compassion went into the film.”

After some fun catwalking and poses, the entire Anderson-Lee clan is spiffed up and ready to go. Above, watch Anderson and her sons get ready for the red carpet.
