Jake Thornton is excited about the task he has at Auburn

Jake Thornton has had success rebuilding offensive lines at his previous stops.

New Auburn offensive line coach Jake Thornton has been part of turnarounds in the past and he shared that he's excited about the task that he has in front of him at Auburn.

"This is not my first offensive line that I'm having to rebuild," Thornton said. "This is the biggest one that I've had to rebuild. At Tennessee Tech and Gardner-Webb, those two places there was a similar situation and I had to rebuild with guys. That was before the transfer portal and had to rebuild with high school guys. Those places ended up doing really well. I'm excited about the task here that I have at Auburn."

His turnaround at Tennessee Tech resulted in his offensive line making way for 4,501 offensive yards in 2019. He had a freshman and two sophomores on that offensive line earn all-American or all-conference honors.

The rebuild seems heavy so far during Thornton's first few months on The Plains. Auburn has added transfer linemen Gunner Britton, Avery Jones, and Dillon Wade. He also helped flip Izavion Miler from Ole Miss to Auburn.

Auburn Daily is projecting all four of those newcomers to start for the Tigers in 2023.
