The mock draft world has spun on its axis for the Bears.

Where only a short time ago mock drafts appearing online had over an 80% majority expecting Will Anderson Jr. to be the first pick and going to the Bears, the No. 1 pick is now a coin flip in mocks but Jalen Carter is the choice.

The Georgia defensive tackle is the No. 1 pick for the Bears but on only 50% of mocks online according to NFLmockdraftdatabase.com.

This is according to 588 mock drafts tablulated.

For Carter, this does not mean he's considered the best pick in the draft at No. 1.

The mock draft data base also compiles big board rankings and after pulling together 73 of these they have Anderson still ranked the No. 1 player in the draft with a projection he will go third overall to Arizona.

Carter is considered the third-best player in the draft on these big boards.

Of course, the mock draft data base does not consider trades, only mock  and player rank.

The posted mocks pushing Carter to the Bears continue going up. NFL.com lead draft writer Eric Edholm on Friday posted his first mock, free of trades, and has Carter going No. 1 to the Bears.

There is still an undercurrent of uncertainty. CBS Sports has two jumpy mock drafters in Chris Trapasso and Josh Edwards.

Trapasso had posted a mock in which the Bears traded all the way down to No. 7 and then took linebacker Trenton Simpson, a player ranked 24th on the consensus big board posted by NFLmockdraftdatabase.com. In the most recent mock done Thursday, he has the Bears moving down to No. 4 in a deal with the Colts and taking Anderson.

Instead, it's Trapasso's sidekick Edwards taking the wild swing and coming up with the strange pick this week. He has the Bears trading all the way down to No. 9 with Carolina and then drafting tackle Broderick Jones of Georgia. Jones is considered the No. 23 player on the consensus big board posted at NFLmockdraftdatabase.com.
