Genoa, Nev. — The long and winding road to establishing a conservation easement on Van Sickle property northeast of the intersection of Muller Lane and Foothill Road may come to its destination this year. Acting Sierra Front Field manager Brady Owens said a new title company will be selected in the next two weeks.


One former and one new Genoa Town Board member were approved by commissioners on Thursday after a lecture on disenfranchising voters. R. “Alex” Alexander said he was out of the country during filing last year. Charles Caden Gould couldn’t attend Thursday’s meeting.


The county is advertising for a volunteer for the Board of Equalization. The deadline to apply at www.douglascountynv.gov is Feb. 17 for appointment on March 2. The board, which reviews appeals of tax valuations, meets 10 a.m. Feb. 15.

Stormy weather in the mountains kicks off 7 p.m. today with a wind advisory for Lake Tahoe with southwest winds 15-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph. Waves are expected to be 2-3 feet high. A winter storm watch starts 7 p.m. Saturday with wind and snow.


For Valley residents, the wind will pick up 7 p.m. Saturday gusting to 40 mph after midnight. About a third of an inch of rain and an inch of snow is forecast with this storm.


Today is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 45 degrees. The south wind will pick up to 15 mph gusting to 24 mph this afternoon before giving up in time for the evening commute.
