Freshman Rep. Juan Ciscomani will deliver in Spanish Tuesday the Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech.

The response will come after Biden makes his primetime remarks.

" ... My message will be simple and straightforward: the American Dream is a dream worth fighting for," Ciscomani, R-Ariz., said. "The people of my district in Arizona and Americans across our country want accountability, responsibility and sensibility restored in our nation’s capital. As part of the new House majority, I look forward to working with my colleagues to secure our Southern Border, strengthen the economy, and do the work the American people expect of us."

Originally from Mexico, Ciscomani is the first foreign-born American elected to Congress from Arizona.

Ciscomani in November defeated Democrat Kirsten Engel in a tough election to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., who did not seek reelection. Ciscomani was one of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's top recruits for Congress.

"While Democrats' woke politics would have you believe the worst in our nation, Juan and his family are a shining reminder of what we look like at our best," McCarthy, R-Calif., said in a written statement. "They are the American Dream, and Congress is all the better because of the unique perspectives and lived experiences that Juan brings to this institution. I look forward to hearing his response where I know he will share with viewers Republicans' Commitment to America to empower the American people and hold the Biden administration accountable."
