UPDATE: The Salt Lake City Police Department late Friday morning identified two men in connection to the fatal stabbing at Palmer Court apartments on Thursday.

The suspects in the attack that left one person dead have been identified as Taddy Avalon Jackman, 43, and Ivy Chase Grant, 26.

Police earlier Friday identified the victim as Charles Alires, 34.

Officers responded to a 911 call about a stabbing attack at the apartments at approximately 3:45, where they found Alires in critical condition with at least one stab wound. Responding police attempted life-saving measures, but the victim ultimately died at the scene.

It's not clear if there is a known motive for the alleged attack or what the suspects' relationship to the victim was.

According to SLCPD's statement, it appears Alires was specifically targeted, though, stating "there is no information to indicate the stabbing was random."

Police said anyone with information about either of the two men is asked to contact police at 801-799-3000 and reference Case No. 23-23556.

The men are considered dangerous.

"Community members should not approach either man, if located," according to an SLCPD statement, instructing anyone who encounters either men to call 911.
