The 27-year-old will replace Jake McQuaide who signed with the Lions, and with no other long snappers currently on the roster, Sieg will look to lock down the starting role for next season.

He also complied 605 kick-return yards and 177 punt-return yards. With Adam Thielen off to Carolina, the No. 3 wideout spot behind Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn appears to be open for competition. Powell could have a chance to carve out a solid offensive role, though he may be valued mostly for his ability to contribute on special teams, both as a return man and in kick coverage. Powell is unlikely to unseat Kene Nwangwu -- who has three career return touchdowns -- as the primary kick returner, but he should have a good chance to win the punt-returning gig over Jalen Reagor.

The 2017 second-round pick may compete with Reed Blankenship for playing time and potentially a starting spot at free safety.

Padres manager Bob Melvin announced that Tuesday's MRI on Soto's oblique strain did not reveal anything significant, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Melvin called the strain "minimal" and mentioned that the team is hopeful that Soto will be able to resume swinging in the next couple of days, and that he's optimistic that the outfielder will get more at-bats in the Cactus League before its conclusion. It's great news for all involved after Soto was removed from Sunday's game with the strained oblique. He should be considered day-to-day, and at this point it seems likely that Soto will be ready to play for the Padres on Opening Day.

Arcia is in line to open the season as Atlanta's starting shortstop, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Barring an addition at the position via trade in the days leading up to Opening Day, Arcia has won the shortstop gig over Vaughn Grissom and Braden Shewmake, both of whom were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Arcia received the appointment atop the depth chart despite mediocre results at the plate in Grapefruit League play (.247/.367/.360 slash line over 30 plate appearances), but he impressed with his glove. Shewmake and Grissom both have a great chance of taking the job from Arcia if the 28-year-old struggles once the season gets underway.
