While fighting a fire in Midland Park on Thursday, first responders discovered a body in the home's burning wreckage, Bergen County prosecutors announced.

The official statement from prosecutors did not say whether the victim had died as a result of the fire, only that the body was discovered on the building's first floor as firefighters worked to suppress the flames overtaking the Franklin Avenue home.

A spokesperson for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office could not provide the age of the victim while the death remains under investigation.

Other occupants inside the home survived the fire and were taken to The Valley Hospital, but officials did not say whether they suffered severe or minor injuries.

Midland Park firefighters were called to the home at 6:32 p.m., but no further information was released as of Thursday night.
