3-year-old girl found in Atwater now in custody of Child Protective Services

Authorities say a toddler is now in the custody of Child Protective Services after she was found wandering alone in Atwater on Thursday.

Officials with the Atwater Police Department say a passerby found a 3-year-old girl on the corner of Fifth and Fir Avenue.

Investigators say the young girl had been walking down the sidewalk by herself.

While searching for the girl's parents, officers said they found a home with 5 other children with no supervision.

All six children were removed from the home and taken into custody by CPS.
