Woman steals Speedway hot dogs, eats them inside store: Berea Police Blotter

BEREA, Ohio -- A Berea woman, 52, was banned from Speedway, 880 N. Rocky River, after she started eating Speedway hot dogs inside the store before paying and threatened store workers.

A witness flagged down police and said the woman was yelling at everyone inside Speedway.

The woman told police she had been wrongly accused of stealing hot dogs. She said had intended to pay for the hot dogs, but began eating them first because she was hungry.

The Speedway manager said she saw the woman eating hot dogs. The woman then went to the counter to pay for other items, but didn’t mention the hot dogs. When the manager asked if the woman wanted to pay for the hot dogs, the woman offered to pay for one hot dog.

The manager told the woman she had just seen her eat several hot dogs. The woman became enraged, calling the manager a racist and threatening to beat her up -- even kill her.

Several workers corroborated the manager’s story and offered to show police security video of the incident.

The woman denied threatening the manager and accused the manager of threatening her. Police told the woman they would arrest her if she ever returned, and she said she understood.
