9-1-1: Lone Star spoilers follow.

9-1-1: Lone Star's fourth season has already had plenty of drama, to say the least, as viewers learned in the premiere that Carlos was married to his high school best friend Iris.

In the latest episode, Carlos and TK had to convince Iris to sign divorce papers, so that the two first responders could get married.

However, the confrontation left TK questioning whether getting hitched is a good idea.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Rafael Silva and Ronen Rubinstein, who play Carlos and TK, explained how the divorce drama could affect the Tarlos wedding.

"This is a very difficult situation for TK to sort of take in and understand and learn from," Rubinstein said.

"I remember talking to [co-creator Brad Falchuk], our director, he's like, 'your motivation is that you're not leaving unless you get these papers signed'.

"And then we started shooting and Lyndsy (Fonseca, who plays Iris) wouldn't look at me. She'd run up the stairs, I'm trailing behind her. Finally, he breaks through with her, and I just gave her this big bear hug.

"It just happened in the moment. But then Iris basically calls TK a 'fixer-upper' and that just stabs him in the heart."

The interaction left TK questioning whether the wedding should go forward.

"It's interesting because Carlos is the one who messed up here, but in this episode – at different times – they both are fighting for their relationship," Silva added.

"When Carlos tries to be there for TK, I think it's also Carlos's way of learning to let go in order to be more present – so we learn more about the two of them together."

Rubinstein also teased more drama is on the way for the fan-favourite duo, as their relationship hangs in the balance.

He said co-creator Tim Minear "does not hold back" with the pair, adding: "He constantly keeps us on your toes. It feels like a true layered, super-emotional drama, and that's my favorite stuff to play."

Silva also said that fans will see more of his character's mother, Andrea.

"She is starting to symbolize a place where we can see Carlos finding comfort. We'll see them honing their relationship," he revealed.

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star both air on FOX and Hulu in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
