Teatro Regio di Parma Announces Change to 2023 Program

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Regio di Parma has announced that the performances of Stravinsky’s “Les Noces” will no longer be performed in a double bill with “I Pagliacci.”

As a result, Leoncavallo’s “I Pagliacci” will be the sole work on performances held on May 5, 7, 12, and 14, 2023.

The opera will be shown in Franco Zeffirelli’s production with a cast that includes Valeria Sepe as Nedda, Gregory Kunde as Canio, Vladimir Stoyanov as Tonio, Matteo Mezzaro as Peppe, and Alessandro Luongo as Silvio.

The production by Zeffirelli, which was the only staging that the director did in a contemporary setting, will be directed by Stefano Trespidi. Andrea Battistoni conducts Orchestra dell’Emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini and the Coro del Teatro Regio di Parma.

Ticket holders who have purchased tickets can request a reimbursement while subscribers will receive a discount toward the 2024 season.
