Detroit Lions wide receiver DJ Chark Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings are heading into the 2023 NFL offseason with a few major question marks that need to be answered. After falling in heartbreaking fashion once again in the Wild Card round, the front office will have to make decisions. One of the most interesting decisions will be about whether or not it’s time to look for another option at quarterback other than Kirk Cousins.

More than likely, Cousins will be back as the team’s starter. However, one NFL exec recently suggested that the Vikings could be a potential trade destination for Lamar Jackson if he forces his way out of Baltimore.

Another question will be how they can improve the roster as a whole. They have a good offense and a defense that has potential. Minnesota could actually look to improve the offense even more by adding another weapon at the wide receiver position.

Pro Football Focus recently mentioned that Detroit Lions’ impending free-agent wide receiver DJ Chark could be a good target for the Vikings in free agency this offseason.

“Chark’s 14.1-yard average depth of target and 14.5 yards per reception over the past four seasons are both top-20 marks among wide receivers. He would add another element to the Vikings’ high-flying passing attack.”

Chark is going to be a player that interests quite a few teams with needs at the wide-receiver position. He had a solid year in Detroit and will look to cash in.

During the 2022 season with the Lions, Chark ended up catching 30 passes for 502 yards and three touchdowns. They weren’t the biggest numbers, but they show he is more than capable of making an impact. Behind Justin Jefferson, all the Vikings really need is a guy who can take pressure off of the superstar wideout.

At 26 years of age, Chark is in the prime of his career. He has plenty of room to continue improving and growing his game.

Expect to see the Vikings look to put together an aggressive offseason. They had an amazing regular season, but the playoffs showed they are still far away from Super Bowl contention. Chark could be an intriguing addition and a quality piece to the puzzle.
