The North Hempstead town supervisor has announced plans to install “Autism Child Area” signs in Port Washington.
This comes after parents Stevie and Angelo Bovis fought legally for a variance for a front yard fence in the hope of providing their 4-year-old autistic daughter with a safe outdoor play area.
A variance was granted to the family last week by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Now the signs will be placed at the corner of the street they live on to alert motorists in the area.
