Jayce Depron had a school record-setting for Madison Prep in more ways than one Tuesday night.

Depron set school records with nine 3-pointers and 41 points in the Chargers’ 74-56 win over East Feliciana in the game played at Madison Prep.

“He made 9 of 11 3-pointers … something you don’t see very often,” Madison Prep coach Jeff Jones said. “Scoring 41 points in a game is a school record too.

“You had several guys make plays in the game. I was impressed with East Feliciana and would not be surprised if they won a Division IV title this year. They have a lot of talent.”

Trey’Dez Green, East Feliciana's 6-foot-8 football-basketball standout, finished with 27 points, including five field goals he made and was fouled.

Madison Prep (24-1) is No. 1 in the LHSAA’s Division II select power ratings. East Feliciana (15-7) is No. 2 in the Division IV nonselect ratings.

Depron’s 3-point total broke a record of eight set by Jones’ son, Jeff, who is now an assistant coach at Henderson State. The 41-point total was better than the top totals of two future LSU/pro players, Jarell Martin (38) and Brandon Sampson (36).
