Owen Wilson's new movie Paint has confirmed when it will hit cinemas in the US.

The film from writer and director Brit McAdams will be released on the big screen on April 7 this year instead of April 28 as previously announced (via Deadline). It will become available to stream on AMC+ later in the year.

Bad news for Wilson's fans in the UK though, as a release date hasn't been announced yet.

First announced last year, Paint follows Wilson as Vermont's top public television painter Carl Nargle.

The Loki star has traded his blonde, straight locks for a slightly darker perm to play Nargle. The film will see him butt heads with a younger, better artist who's stealing everything and everyone he loves.

"We're thrilled to finally work with the boundless and versatile talent of Owen Wilson, as he effortlessly brings Carl Nargle's character to life from a savvy script and direction by Brit McAdams," president of IFC Films Arianna Bocco said in a statement.

"Paint has all the makings of a quotable comedic masterpiece, and we hope audiences of all ages are ready for a lot of laughs and a lot of heart."

Alongside Wilson, Paint also stars Michaela Watkins (Werewolves Within), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids, The Goldbergs), Ciara Renée (Hawkgirl from CW's Arrowverse), Lusia Strus (Search Party, 50 First Dates), Stephen Root (Barry, Office Space) and newcomer Lucy Freyer.

In other Wilson news, the Zoolander star will return in the role of Mobius for the second season of Loki on Disney+.

A first look at the new instalment hinted at a reunion between the TVA agent and Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief, whose unlikely friendship was upended after a dramatic change in the Sacred Timeline.

Paint will be released in cinemas in the US on April 7 and will stream on AMC+ later in the year. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
