Stop the presses — Alaska Daily‘s return has been postponed.
ABC‘s Hilary Swank drama, which was scheduled to kick off its final five Season 1 episodes on Feb. 23, will now return a week later — on Thursday, March 2 at 10/9c, the network announced. The season finale is now set for Thursday, March 30.
The move will allow viewers to watch the remainder of Season 1 uninterrupted over the course of five consecutive weeks.
The March 2 winter premiere, entitled “Enemy of the People,” picks up right where the fall finale left off, with the team racing to help Swank’s Eileen before it’s too late.
A decision on what will follow Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy in ABC’s now-vacant 10 pm slot on Feb. 23 is pending.
Alaska Daily‘s freshman run thus far has averaged 5.5 million total viewers (with Live+7 playback), and though its audience skews a bit old (tying The Chase for the lowest demo number of any ABC entertainment program), it ties lead-in Grey’s Anatomy for having the fourth-biggest audience of any ABC entertainment programing airing this season (trailing only The Rookie, Will Trent and The Good Doctor).
For the latest intel on whether Alaska Daily will live to see a second season, consult our 2023 Renewal Scorecard.
If it is one week after Feb 23, then it’s March 2. Not March 30.
It says March 2, with the finale March 30.
Yeah, you’re right. Sorry.
I probably never would have noticed as I just watch my shows when they show up. I can’t keep track of all the different dates :-)
Thanks for the heads up!
Losing the momentum… 🙄
I agree. If you only do 10-13 episodes a season they need to be all at once. The cliffhanger wasn’t that strong to keep me waiting for three months. I enjoy the show but already stopped caring.
There was a cliffhanger?? It’s been so long, I don’t even remember what the episode was about.😂
Not really a cliffhanger but the main character (who is the worst one) had her life threatened. I wonder if she survives! hahaha
us too.
far too many shows to squeeze in,
you play scheduling games,
you gone
Yep. This is why I long ago stopped watching scripted TV on the networks. Used to drive me up the wall when watching Desperate Housewives back in the day. It seemed it was off more than it was on thanks to constant interruptions from various awards shows and specials etc.
“The move will allow viewers to watch the remainder of Season 1 uninterrupted over the course of five consecutive weeks.” This is BS. The show finished filming first week in Jan. So they’d be able to run consecutively if it aired feb 23. (They don’t need 2 months for post production). What’s likely is they want to use Meredith’s final ep to lead into an encore of “The Company You Keep” pilot which will have debuted 5 days before.
I just checked Futon Critic and that’s exactly what they have listed as airing in that timeslot, an encore of “The Company You Keep.”
Alaska Daily is one of the best acted shows on tv. Looking forward to the reason of season one.
I caught up recently, so happy I did. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up next!
I like it and hopes it get a season 2 pickup.
Same but Hillary Swank is pregnant with twins and will want months after the birth before filming again. I hope it doesn’t take a year between seasons the way Outlander and Virgin River do.
Aren’t there only 4 episodes left?
I’ve enjoyed Alaska Daily.
So what replaces it on February 23? — Possibly two episodes of Grey’s that night??? Meredith’s farewell followed by the first episode of life after Meredith.
What would have interrupted it if they kept to the schedule?
How is it five consecutive weeks with only 4 episodes left? Did they up the episode count to 11?
did not know the show was based in truth….

Presidential Task Force on Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives Releases Status Report
The Presidential Task Force on Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) today released a status report detailing accomplishments during its first year and outlining its strategy for the next 12 months. The President’s Executive Order (E.O.) 13898, set forth a range of tasks to be completed over the two-year life of the Task Force, with required reports at the end of each year. Attorney General William P. Barr and Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt transmitted the status report to President Trump, and notably characterized these accomplishments as, “a productive first year of Task Force operations.”
In its first year, the Task Force, also known as Operation Lady Justice (OLJ), held more than 15 in-person and remote meetings with tribes, individuals and stakeholder groups, and established and convened 10 working groups to address specific mandates of the executive order, including developing protocols, solving cold cases and expanding outreach and awareness. Readouts of the sessions can be found on the Operation Lady Justice website.
“American Indians and Alaska Natives experience some of the highest rates of violence in the country, a situation that is all the more tragic in light of the generations of trauma already suffered by indigenous people,” said Attorney General Barr. “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented challenges it posed, the Task Force continued to progress with appropriate urgency to diagnose the symptoms of this intractable problem. They sought the help and input from tribal leaders and tribal communities to develop sustainable protocols that will lead to long-term resolutions tribal communities need and deserve.”
“The Trump Administration has taken numerous actions to support Tribal communities with a particular focus on addressing the crisis of missing and murdered Native Americans and Alaska Natives,” said Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt. “The new cold case offices that we stood up around the country are already providing much needed support in a critical effort to resolve missing and murdered cases and provide justice for victims and their families.”
“It has been a true honor to represent the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the Operation Lady Justice Task Force and serve Native American communities and populations,” said Commissioner Jeannie Hovland of the Administration for Native Americans. “Tribal leaders and community advocates have been on the forefront of this issue for years. At their request, I have elevated the critical role prevention must play in reducing the number of Native Americans who tragically go missing or are murdered. With their partnership and guidance, HHS is taking unprecedented action on this issue using a public health approach. This means addressing the root causes of this issue. I believe that together we can, and will, end the crisis of Missing and Murdered Native Americans.”
“President Trump was the first President to formally recognize the long-overlooked issue of missing and murdered Native Americans, but more importantly he demanded action,” said Doug Hoelscher, Assistant to the President and Director of White House Intergovernmental Affairs. “The work of the Operation Lady Justice Task Force, created by President Trump’s executive order, is laying a solid foundation for long-sought progress by improving data coordination, enhancing collaboration among various law enforcement entities, creating several cold case offices, and elevating support for victims and their families. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and the hard work of the Task Force members, tribal partners, and advocates, missing and murdered Native Americans are forgotten no more!”
President Trump signed E.O. 13898 on November 26, 2019, establishing the Operation Lady Justice Task Force, to “address the legitimate concerns of American Indian and Alaska Native communities regarding missing and murdered people.” The order requires the Task Force to submit a status report in November 2020 and a final report in November 2021. Attorney General Barr and Secretary Bernhardt are co-chairs, with Office of Justice Programs Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Katharine T. Sullivan and Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Tara Katuk Mac Lean Sweeney serving as their designees. Marcia Good, from the Justice Department’s Office of Tribal Justice, is executive director.
As noted in the report, the Task Force will continue to consult with tribal leaders and solicit stakeholder feedback as it develops strategies for strengthening investigations, raising public awareness, and improving data collection and information sharing. Submission of the report caps National Native American Heritage Month. A list of Task Force members follows:
Katherine (Katie) Sullivan, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Office of Justice Programs U.S. Department of Justice Designee for Attorney General
Tara Sweeney, Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs U.S. Department of the Interior Designee for the Secretary of the Interior

Thanks for letting us know. I’ve moved it to Mar 2 on my phone’s calendar. Outer Banks season 3 drops on Feb 23 so moving Alaska Daily one week is beneficial.
My TiVo told me it was returning in January! I really enjoy this show so will look forward to it whenever it returns. It’s nice to have something on TV that educates while entertaining. I certainly hope it’s renewed.
I think Conrad Pritchard is behind Concerned Citizen. The campaign to run her out of Alaska started immediately after she arrived. His corruption is something he would be opposed to having fill the news.
I was really enjoying this show. I wish they hadn’t taken such a long hiatus. And now it’s even longer. Well, hopefully, the last few episodes with be worth the wait. I’d love a second season, but I won’t get my hopes up.
This has been an interesting and entertaining show. I would like to see it return with a 2nd season.
I just hope Concerned Citizen holding Eileen hostage is a short scene so they get back to the storyline fast. The writers have not done a good job writing Roz Friendly. First she didn’t see why they should investigate the Gloria murder then it was deeply personal followed by her wanting to block the investigation because she’s bitter about her father’s other family so using Derek’s help was a personal problem for her.
Concerned Citizen is a pointless stalker unless Conrad Pritchard is afraid of her.
Alaska Daily is a great show! Good acting, plot and scenery.
I really enjoy it. Please bring it back!
Look, I’m pretty tired of remakes of old shows, doctor shows, cop shows. Etc. ALASKA Daily is a great show, great acting and like nothing else out there, and based on true crimes of Indigenous and native Americans. ABC, Please bring it back for a 2nd season.
Alaska Daily is a show that has a strong statement which gets too little public awareness at least in the United States. Here in Canada, its a topic well known-the dissapearances of Indigenous women. I love the show for alot of reasons. I do hope it hangs on in the ratings for Season Three.
Alaska Daily is a great series. I hope it is renewed. We (I) need to be able to see the press in a different light. They haven’t been my favorite entity in recent years. The acting has also been very good.
We all just want good shows. This was one of the best… So of course it’s cancelled. Why are we subjected to the shows that are only being watched by stoners..
