Kilgore Community College Guard DaVeon Thomas Transferring To Cincinnati

UC beefed up its future backcourt on Thursday.

CINCINNATI — Wes Miller and the Bearcats added a junior college transfer to the Class of 2023.

Kilgore College guard DaVeon Thomas is playing for UC next season with two years of eligibility left.

According to JuCo Recruiting, Thomas is the No. 4 junior college player in the country. He chose UC over future Big 12 rival West Virginia.

Through 19 games this season, Thomas is averaging 19.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. He is shooting 45.6% overall and 36.4% from deep this season at Kilgore College, which plays in Region 14 of the NJCAA.

Thomas should be a nice bridge player between the veteran guards on the floor now, and incoming four-star talent Jizzle James. The 6-foot, the 190-pound spark plug has lightning-quick acceleration and off-ball awareness.

He can operate with and without the ball while staying in motion when he doesn't tote the rock. His floater and driving game are big strengths. While he can shoot, his jumper isn't the smoothest-looking motion.

Thomas's ability to hunt contact and slice into the lane resembles shades of David DeJulius. He could step in seamlessly for Cincinnati's top assist man next season.
