(KWNO)- On February 1 at 4:28 p.m. Winona Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 250 block of Franklin Street.

Anthony Whiteside Jr. 35-years-old of Winona, was found outside of the residence, yelling, agitated and not answering any of the officers’ questions.

Upon further investigation, officers found Whiteside Jr. to be the culprit of a domestic violence incident inside the home.

He was charged with five different counts, four stemming from the incident, one stemming from a court order violation.

Officers say that Whiteside Jr. was pinning down a female, with his fist clinched, when the female’s kid, a 16-year-old, intervened.

Whiteside Jr. then threw the 16-year-old to the ground multiple times and struck him in the face with a closed fist punch.

The mother told officers that Whiteside was going to fight her, and that’s when the 16-year-old son intervened.

Officers then tried to arrest Whiteside Jr., but he was uncooperative. Throwing his body around, flailing his limbs when officers tried restraining him. At one point Whiteside stopped resisting, but instead just went limp, pinning his dead body weight on officers. Eventually, Officers were able to get Whiteside into the squad car.

Whiteside sustained an injury to the head, and a dog bite and needed to be cleared medically before being arrested. Officers say the dog bite came from a dog inside the home trying to protect the kid and mother.

When cleared, Whiteside was taken to jail where he was charged with domestic assault, 4th degree assault, obstructing with force, disorderly conduct and a DANCO violation, or a domestic abuse no contact order violation.
