Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Ben Price has revealed the fallout of the shocking Bistro gun scenes, which take place next week.

The ITV soap's newest villain Damon Hay has recently been using the Bistro to smuggle drugs and is blackmailing Nick Tilsley (Price) to help him.

However, things come to a head next week when two masked gunmen enter the restaurant and order Ryan Connor to hand over the drugs, while Nick's son Sam hides underneath a table and calls his dad.

Opening up about the scenes and explaining how Nick feels when he gets that terrifying call from Sam, Ben shared: "It’s awful. When it's only affecting him, he can handle it, but with Sam and all the trauma he's been through already, this is the moment where he's like, 'I'm about to really ruin my kid's life'.

"He’s a father who wasn't there for 10 years and now he is here, he’s making his life worse, putting him at the centre of a gun siege."

The actor went on to say that witnessing his son in this situation gives Nick the courage to try and confront Damon – even if it means going to the police – because "he's got nothing else to lose" at this point.

While he believes Nick and Leanne's relationship will survive this, Ben says that it won't be easy.

"I don’t think Nick’s bad but I think he’s naïve. He didn’t get into this knowingly and I think Leanne gets that," he said. "He wants this family unit, but I don’t think Leanne will make it easy, he’s going to have to work for it."

Ben continued: "I think they do need to be together, I think the audience wants those characters to stay together even when it’s hard. They can go through so much but they can push through and stay together."

Fortunately, no one is hurt at the Bistro, and Leanne is later told that two men have been arrested in connection with the attack. But Damon still needs to pick up the drugs – and it looks like his criminal activity is finally catching up with him.

Is Nick going to be the one to finally take him down?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
