No reunion in Denver: Fangio chooses Miami

Fired one year ago by the Broncos, Fangio was a sought-after coordinator candidate this offseason.

MIAMI — Former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio will be the next defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins, according to a new report Thursday.

While sources of the Associated Press confirmed the hiring of Fangio by the Dolphins earlier this week, Fangio reportedly considered other NFL jobs over the last several days.

"After speaking with multiple teams about their defensive coordinator position, Vic Fangio has decided to join the Dolphins as their defensive coordinator and officially will accept the position on the Miami staff after the Super Bowl," ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted Thursday.

The Broncos were one of the rumored teams Fangio considered.

Fangio, 64, was Denver's head coach from 2019-21, going 19-30.

Fangio figures to mesh well with Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel and the talent Miami has on defense, according to the Associated Press.

The Dolphins fired defensive coordinator Josh Boyer after three seasons with the team.
