TINLEY PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Fifteen years and thousands of leads later, police in Tinley Park are still searching for the person who killed five women inside a Lane Bryant store.

Ahead of today’s anniversary, the Tinley Park police department shared that it added a detective to the case last year to review tips after another detective retired.

Maurice Hamilton is pleased with the move and hopes a new set of eyes will find whoever killed his sister, Rhoda McFarland, who was store manager of the Lane Bryant.

“(There’s) something that the other detectives might have missed. It’s a good thing. They’re still working on the case,” Hamilton said.

The department keeps online audio snippets of the 9-1-1 call the 42-year-old McFarland made as well as a picture of the suspect in the hopes someone recognizes the suspect’s voice in the background.

Hamilton told WBBM his sister’s risk to protect others was typical helpful behavior from the Air Force veteran.

“It was her being her, helpful and trying to basically save people,” Hamilton said.

He said he thinks about her not only on the anniversary but every day. He has faith the case will be solved one day.
